Although yes, this is a good needle (stylus) to play 78rpms,, as it is spherical and not an elliptical one, keep in mind that there is in fact TWO different era of 78 rpms... The SHELLAC era which is mostly all the 1st records ever made from early 1900 to the 1950s and then the VINYL era which was the last 78rpms ever manufactured.
The difference? well it is a major one, as to play old shellac 78rpms records you will need a specific MONO cartridge 1st as if you use the usual stereo cartridges your sound will be horribly distorted. Not only that but there is also a major difference in the GROOVE themselves between shellac and vinyl 78rpms records. The old shellac records have VERY big and deep grooves on it so you will need a rather big
